The parish Church of St. Sebastian is one of the main attractions and religious centre of the Austrian community in bad Blumau. Saint Sebastian was a Roman soldier and is revered saints in the Catholic and Orthodox churches.
The construction of the Church began in 1480. It was then in bad Blumau arose a majestic building in the Gothic style. But it stood not too long and collapsed due to displacement of earthen formations that occurred in 1701. From a previous structure survived only the chapel of St Leonard.
The modern building of the Church of St. Sebastian was built in 1702-1703, from designs and under the guidance of masters from Graz Bartholomeus Ebner. In 1987 the Church was overhauled, and in 2001, located in Slovenia the workshop of Anton Skrabl arrived body.
The interior of the Church is designed in the typical for the Baroque period style. On one of the outer walls, there is a sundial with the inscription in two languages – Latin and German, "Where is the sun there is life." Above the main altar is a painting pierced by the arrows of Saint Sebastian. Multi-colored stained glass Windows let in enough light to create a cozy, unique atmosphere.
