The modern art Museum Frieder Burda has been opened on Lichtentaler-Alley in 2004. The Museum has various exhibits on display: more than 800 paintings, sculptures and other works of art history over the last century.
The main direction of the collection is classical modernism, so here are the works of max Beckmann, August Macke and Ernst Kircher. The Museum also exhibits works by artists whose names are better known to the public: Picasso, M. Rothko, J. Pollock, KL. Steele, G. Richter.
The enthusiasm of the collector Frieder Burda, manifested more than 40 years ago, helped create the collection and then the opening of the Museum. On the creation of the unique project of building worked the new York architect Richard Mayr. Considerable efforts were spent to fit unusual Museum building into the surrounding landscape and to align the scale with the neighbouring Exhibition hall in the classical style. In the end, between the buildings for the convenience of the visitors appeared the indoor transparent transition from the glass, and when construction was able to save the trees.
The Museum is open throughout the day and practically the whole week, except on Monday and public holidays. For those interested in the art of XX and XXI centuries, definitely worth a visit current exhibitions representing pioneer and modern trends.
