The magic fountain is a work of the Catalan engineer Carles Buigas, who before the creation of this masterpiece was made by the author of a series of illuminated fountains, created in 1922. The magic fountain is located on the montjuïc hill below the State Palace, next to Plaza Spain. The construction of the fountain was dedicated to the Barcelona International exhibition in 1929.

Almost a year before the exhibition K. Buigas submitted to the Executive Committee its unexpected and ambitious project to 460 sheets, which developed the idea of decorating the main Avenue of the exhibition beautifully illuminated waterfalls and fountains, designed to portray the wondrous play of light and water.

In this project involved more than 3 thousand employees, and in less than a year they managed to create a truly amazing sight - the incredible beauty of the ensemble, the magic of light and water in a mesmerizing swirl of the sounds of magical music.

This stunning ensemble was complemented by waterfalls and fountains located along the Avenida Maria Cristina, but it is the "singing fountain", raised on a special podium at the end of the prospectus in light of the State Palace. It is difficult to imagine the scale of the fountain – the size of the bowl is h m, and the volume of water involved is 3 million liters. Amazing fountain plays 3620 jets of water, creating incredibly beautiful and unforgettable sight.

Magic fountain of Montjuic became the chief ornament of the International exhibition. Today, the fountain is one of the main attractions of Barcelona, a place that every day is visited by a huge number of people. Musical performances of the fountain are held every half hour.
