Museum in Podgorica since 1950 offers everyone to become acquainted with both the city and the whole of Montenegro, covering the continuum from antiquity to the present day.

The Museum is divided into four exhibitions, depending on the topics that they cover: historical, cultural historical, archaeological and ethnographic. In the Museum you can see ancient archival documents, photographs, artefacts and other materials. They are all proud of Montenegro, as reliably indicate the change of peoples and eras.

As exhibits in the Museum are pottery, some of which dated to the III century BC, and archaeological period of the Illyrian and Roman eras.

With many icons, manuscripts, printed books of Muslims and Christians, jewelry and objects of everyday life – that is the period from XVI to XX century. All these items are exhibited in the Museum, record the fact that in Montenegro there was always the interweaving of three different religions: Orthodoxy, Islam and Catholicism.

In addition, the ethnographic exhibition of the Museum's exhibits can be seen jewelry, pottery, weapons and costumes – all of these items reflect the life and culture of Montenegro in the period from XVIII to XX century. On the first floor of the Museum houses two exhibitions, which presents the work of contemporary Montenegrin artists.
