In Barnaul there is a huge number of interesting monuments that are dedicated to different historical events and famous people. However, the most touching and unusual urban monument can be called a monument to the famous actor Charlie Chaplin. The monument is located next to a station on Victory square, behind the memorial. Earlier this place was a fountain. On the right side of the monument is an entertainment complex "the World".
A monument dedicated to American actor, screenwriter, composer, Director and versatile master of cinema - Charlie Chaplin, was established on 30 August 2007. The initiator of the monument was made by the owner of the nearby leisure club, bearing the name of this actor. The author of this work has been the architect Edward Dobrowolski, depicting a scene from the famous film called "the Circus" in 1928.
The sculpture consists of three figures: Charlie Chaplin, fleeing from an angry police officer who is holding the stick and lady standing next to old-style appearance, which, imperious lift of her hand, takes the whole picture to the camera.
According to the story, the main character Charlie Chaplin appeared in a circus troupe randomly and not in order to become a star. Just running away from the angry police officer, he happened to be in a circus, having made such a sensation that the Director of this circus does not remain anything else how to offer Chaplin to perform in circus performances.
The monument fell in love with not only local residents but also visitors to the city, and especially children. This is a funny song that makes you smile and immediately sets a good mood. The monument to the famous comedian Charlie Chaplin in Barnaul is the only one not only in the city but in the whole of Siberia.
