Peterskirche Church was consecrated in honor of the Apostle Peter. She stands at the intersection of Petersgasse and Kellergasse, North-West of the Cathedral, in the Old town of Basel. Traditionally, it is oriented from East to West. From 1529 acts as Evangelical Protestant Church. Her arrival at this place was a religious building dates from the 9th century. To 1233, it was given the status of a parish Church, and later was attached to the monastery. In 1356 an earthquake occurred that caused serious damage to buildings, and the Church had to completely rebuild. It was then that it was attached to the Church choir.

Today the Church is a three-nave Basilica - roomy main nave, it has whitewashed walls shared with two lateral longitudinal naves. The walls are richly decorated with murals and paintings of biblical subjects. In the South side of the nave, in the chapel of Eppenbach is the painting "the entombment" and well-preserved wall fresco "the Annunciation of the virgin Mary" (1400). The Department dates back to the year 1620.

May 13, 1760 in Church has been a remarkable event was the baptism of Johann Peter Hebel, a famous German writer. In the Church of St. Peter and still stands the font, which was the ritual, and opposite the Western wall of the bronze bust of the writer, made and installed in 1899.
