The Church Of St. Martin (Martinskirche) is a Protestant Church in the city of Basel. She towers over many of the buildings of the old part of the city, often referred to as the Great Basel. The first documentary evidence of it date back to 1101-1103 years. The Church building stands in the Northern part of the hill near the Cathedral of Basel is the oldest parish Church.

The first Church was built in the X century. Some parts of the tower and West facade have been preserved since their creation in 1287. The earthquake of 1356 was not spared in this Church, because at that time was destroyed most of the town, and Martinskirche almost completely rebuilt, but the Foundation remained the same. Then it was attached the bell tower with four bells. Polygon choir, and North and South facades date back to the second half of the 14th century. There was preaching of Johann Ecolampadius, the reformer of Basel. During the reformation many of the paintings and frescoes were covered with plaster.

In 1851 the Church was subjected to a planned restructuring. This significantly facades were rebuilt in the internal space built first stage. Even before that, the Church was used as a concert hall. At the same time, frescoes have been restored, because the plaster was carefully repulsed. For heating in 1892, was built in the basement gallery.

The bell of St. Martin's traditionally informs about the opening of the Basel autumn fair.
