Rezzato Photo: Rezzato

Rezzato is a town in the province of Brescia in the Italian region Lombardy. One of its main attractions relating to the prehistoric period, is the so-called CA’ dei ' Grimm's cave, located on the southern slope of Monte Ragogna. During archeological excavations here from 1954 to 1968-th years, the cave has been discovered artifacts of the Neolithic period – the oldest in the entire province. Probably, in ancient times, CA ' dei ' Grimm served as a refuge for primitive people, for the same purposes it can be used by our contemporaries in the years of the Second World war. Unfortunately, in 1969, the year the cave was partially destroyed during the development of the marble quarry.

It is believed that the modern name of the city of Rezzato comes from the medieval word "regalim", which means "Royal court" - the term used to denote the territory around Brescia. A contribution to the development of the city was made by the Benedictine monks who had drained the surrounding swamps and laid irrigation canals in the plain of Valverde.

In the 14th century in the wars between the Guelphs and Ghibellines to power in Milan and the surrounding lands came the clan of the Visconti, who supported the Emperor Henry VII. And in the 15th century the Western part of Lombardy was captured by the Sforza family, and the province of Brescia became part of the Venetian Republic. It was in those years began to flourish Commerce and arts, Rezzato and became known throughout Italy for its marble. From the 15th until the beginning of the 20th centuries, the extraction of marble and other stone was the main branch of local economy.

Today Rezzato can offer visitors several attractions, among which, of course, stands PInAC – international gallery of children's art Aldo Tibaldi, opened over 30 years ago. In the gallery, located on the street via Discipline contains about 4, 5 thousand works of art. In the building in addition to the gallery is an educational center, which hosts a variety of seminars and workshops and speak Italian and foreign artists. The gallery collection is constantly updated – staff has selected children's drawings, study them and cataloged.

Between the small villages of Ponte and the Channel in the vicinity of Rezzato is a luxurious Villa Avogadro-Fenaroli, which for four centuries served as the residence of noble families of Brescia. Its Northern wing and a balcony overlooking via Scalabrini, date back to the 16th century. Not far from the garden fence, under the Lebanese cedars were perched a covered loggia of the same 16th century. Gothic greenhouses were built in 1840, the year, and the garden has undergone significant changes in 1863, the year. Since 2006, the year the Villa Avogadro-Fenaroli is the hotel "Palace Hotel".

Behind the Villa you can see the Temple of Bacchus, who, in 2001, the year it was destroyed by vandals, but, fortunately, was quickly rebuilt as a symbol of urban history.

Since, as mentioned above, Rezzato since ancient times was famous for its marble, there is nothing surprising in the fact that in 1839, the year of Rudolph Vantine opened in the building of the Town Hall school for the education of stonecutters. Himself Vantine was one of the best architects of Brescia. School his name is now in the southern part of the city.

Finally, it is worth saying that in Rezzato equipped with over 8 km of bike paths by which the city is connected with the provincial Cycling route Rezzato-Salò and lake Garda.
