Historical exhibition of the Moravian Museum now occupies the house No. 8, more like a Palace located on Zuellni square (former Market). Local guides call this Baroque mansion, built in 1620-ies, Ditrichstein Palace. This building is also known it, albeit briefly, but still served as a house for the chief of the Russian army Mikhail Kutuzov. He spent there a few nights before the battle of Austerlitz.
Dietrichstrasse the Palace was built for cardinal frantiĊĦek Dietrichstein and became one of his favorite residences. The building was rebuilt in 1748, during which they completely redesigned entrance and lobby. In the Palace at different times visited by the first persons of the state, including Empress Maria Theresia.
In 1911, the mansion becomes the Moravian Museum. Now there are temporary exhibitions. This continues until extensive renovation in the 80-ies of the last century, in which the interiors were adapted to the permanent collections. Now here is rich with anthropological, archaeological, Zoological and some other collections of Brno. For example, is considered to be a very interesting exhibition "Stone soul", presenting a selection of unique Czech minerals.
The most valuable exhibit of the Museum, who come to admire not only many tourists, but also eminent scientists, is a small figurine (11, 1 cm) Vestonice of Venus, of which 27 thousand years. This product is made of ceramic made by an unknown sculptor in Paleolithic times.
