Elansky Museum "the Don Cossacks against the Bolsheviks" was opened in the village Elanskaya of the Sholokhov district of Rostov region.
Village itself was founded by the Cossacks in the XVII century on the left Bank of the don, near the stanitsa Vyoshenskaya (the birthplace of Mikhail Sholokhov), and before the revolution consisted of 10,000 villagers. Now in them Elanskaya home to about a hundred people. Memorial Museum is located on the estate of a Cossack entrepreneur Melikhov, Vladimir Petrovich: built, updated exhibits and contains the funds Melikhov V. P. and his company "the Village".
The owner of the estate Melikhov V. P. - a descendant of several Cossack childbirth, people with monarchist beliefs, a former member of the national-fascist organization "Memory" (Vasiliev) and the NRC. The memorial complex was opened in 2006 to perpetuate the memory of the don Cossacks who died in the struggle with the Bolsheviks. Along with the materials reflecting the struggle of the Cossacks in the Civil war, the exploits of the Cossacks during the First world war and subsequent wars, the Museum contains a great variety of unique items and documents showing the life and traditions of the don Cossacks. The display also includes materials documenting the life and work of famous Cossack emigrants, participants of the White movement, including such as Markov N. E., Krasnov P. N., Denisov S. V., Dubrovin, A. I., Polyakov I. A..
Before entering the Museum is a monument to Russian General and ataman Pyotr Nikolaevich Krasnov. The history of the monument is also reflected in the Museum.
