Historical society Museum of Broome is located in a building built in the late 1890s, when used as a store. From 1910 to 1979 the building was Custom, and today it is one of the best regional museums in Australia, due to existing volunteers.

Almost immediately after the construction of the building was opened the main shop of the company "Newman Goldstein & Co. It had everything needed for fleet company, consisting of 22 ships sailing leggero, 2 schooners, and steam boats. The store was also an important trading company that insured the pearl fishers and buying pearls produced by other fleets.

In 1904 the building, which then housed the customs house was destroyed by termites, and, despite public protests, in 1910, the state Agency moved to a store building. In 1979 the County Council Bromser acquired this building for the future Museum, which was opened in 1981.

Today, the Museum has housed several exhibits that introduce the history of the pearl industry, aboriginal culture in Western Australia, one-day war, the life of Broome and memorabilia.
