This monument is perhaps the most original of all memorials installed in Kiev. The monument is a huge toad of bronze, and the front paws of the animal greedily piled on top of the coin.

The author of this unusual sculpture was created by sculptor Oleg Pinchuk, the author deliberately refused the offer of the city of compensation to him, explaining that he made a gift to the city and its residents. But the sculpture had cost him and helped him to friends in a rather big amount of 180 000 $. From Kiev needed to find a place where you could put this gift. The problem was complicated by the fact that the monument Toad very dimensional – alone basis has an area of 4 sq m, and the total weight of this attraction up to six tons.

The author himself had proposed to set his creation in Cross Park, and not just. The fact is that here, close to Philharmonic hall, previously occupied by a place of worship, which was called the Toad. It was a cosy dance floor (later disco), which was practically all sides obscured by trees, making it incredibly popular among constantly persecuted by the authorities of Kiev hipsters. The issue of placement of the monument was so acute that even had to create on this occasion the Commission. In the end, it was decided to open a monument near the Museum of Water, which was done in celebration of the day of Kyiv.

Few visitors to the city know that the monument Toad is one characteristic, which does not possess its competitors established in other cities. Anyone can throw in a Frog coin, and she gives him prosperity. The luckiest can get a whole heap of coins, thrown into a Toad predecessors (to this end, in the middle made a special bucket from tipping when it reaches a certain mass).
