Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity is located on Starogradski square in the centre of Budva Old town. The town's archaeological Museum is right there, in front of the temple.
The Church building was erected according to numerous requests from representatives of the Orthodox religion in the early nineteenth century. The temple is well preserved, and even in spite of serious restoration work after the devastating earthquake of 1979, the temple looks great in our day. The architectural style of the building tends to be a Byzantine, which was characterized by the construction of domes and vaults.
Budva Church of the Holy Trinity is an exact replica of the temple of the Dormition in Podgorica. Both temples are built of stone, in two color combinations – red and white stripes which alternate in the masonry walls. High tower crowned with three bells.
Modest appearance is offset by a magnificent interior of the Church of the Holy Trinity. Inside there is a high iconostasis in the Baroque style, executed by Greek artists Naum of Satire. Without should be ignored colorful mosaics and frescos with gold – they are above the entrance to the temple.
Next to the Church stands the famous Montenegrin writer and public figure. We are talking about grave of bodanza, a fighter for national freedom Dalmatia Stefan Mitrovi Ljubisa, who lived in the nineteenth century.
