Torre di San Pancrazio and Torre del Elefante – medieval tower located in Cagliari, in the historical quarter of Castello.

Torre San Pancrazio was built in 1305, the year during the rule of the Republic of Pisa. On its project worked Sardinian architect Giovanni Capula, who was also the author of Torre del Elefante, erected two years later, and Torre del Aquila, partly destroyed in the 18th century and is now embedded in the Palazzo Boyle. The tower of San Pancrazio was part of the defensive system of the city, built by pisacane to protect Cagliari from the raids of the Saracen pirates and attacks by rival Genoese. For the erection of the tower from the nearby hill of Colle di Bonaria was brought white limestone. Itself Torre di San Pancrazio has a wall thickness of up to three meters and gates, which together with the gate Torre del Elefante are still the main entrance to the Castello quarter. During the reign of the Aragonese dynasty Torre di San Pancrazio was rebuilt and was used as a prison. In 1906, the year the tower was restored.

Torre del Elefante, also built in the 14th century to defend the city, reaches 31 meters in height. Three sides of the tower were built of white limestone from the hill of Colle di Bonaria, and the fourth was open and had four wooden floor galleries. This tower was also modified during the Aragonese dynasty and also served as a prison, and on its walls for everyone to see hung the heads of executed criminals. In 1906, the year of Torre del Elefante was restored.
