The Church of San Pablo is located in Cordoba near the Cathedral, opposite the Roman temple. Once this place was the Roman circus, then there was erected the Palace of the Arab of the Almohad dynasty, in the 13th century there was built the monastery of St. Paul, part of which is this old Church. The land for the construction of the monastery was donated to the friars-the Dominicans by king Ferdinand III in 1241, and the construction of the Church began in the 15th century.

During the invasion of the French in 1810, the monastery buildings were turned into military barracks, and only the Church has preserved his true destiny. In 1848 dilapidated monastery premises were ordered to be demolished, left the Church quickly fell into disrepair. In the early 20th century attempted its restoration, and some time later the building was transferred to the monks claretian.

The exterior of the Church can be traced elements and techniques of several architectural styles – Mudejar, Gothic, Mannerist and Baroque. The main facade, which was completed in the 16th century, in the style of mannerism. The facade is decorated with a magnificent portal, created in the form of an arch, over which in a small alcove is a sculpture of the Saint. All this splendor is the rose window is white. The gates leading into the courtyard in front of the entrance to the Church were built of marble in the Baroque style in 1708. Two sides are adorned with twisted columns, and right above iron gate is made of stone statue of St. Paul.

Inside the Church is divided into three naves. In the Church of San Pablo is stored sculpture of a Grieving Mother of God, established in 1627 by the sculptor Juan de Mesa.
