Reserve Qumran is located on the northwestern shore of the Dead sea, where in the mid-twentieth century, archaeologists found ancient biblical scrolls two thousand years ago, lying in inaccessible caves. This discovery caused a sensation in the scientific world and influenced the study of the history of Judaism and Christianity.

On display for tourists to see the ruins of the ancient settlement of the Second temple era (circa 130 BC): round catchment tank, beside which were built two rectangular pond and residential spaces, as well as two furnaces for firing ceramics. Somewhat later (about 100 BC) the area of the settlement has been expanded: there were built two and three - storey buildings and created a complex system of reservoirs connected by channels. Water was supplied by an aqueduct from Wadi Qumran, where a dam was built, who detained the water during the winter rains. Among the buildings is not detected bedrooms; they, apparently, were nearby caves and tents.
