Amur regional local lore Museum, which is located in Blagoveshchensk on the corner of Lenin street and alley of St. innocent, is one of the cultural attractions of the city and one of the oldest museums in the far East.

Amur regional Museum was founded in August, 1891, At this time in Blagoveshchensk was preparing for the arrival of the heir to the throne, the future Nicholas II. The gold miners have erected on the banks of the Amur river pavilion, where were exhibited the nuggets and specimens of gold-bearing rocks, models of mines and photography. When the heir to the throne left Blagoveshchensk, all exhibits (except gold) have been transferred to the city and formed the basis of the collection of the Museum.

In 1995, the Museum was named after T. S. Novikov-Daursky - known local historian of the Amur region, who has worked at the Museum for 34 years. The materials of the Museum are housed in 26 halls. In the Museum there are more than 180 thousand of exhibits illustrating the history and natural resources of the Amur region. Most major Museum collections are: natural Sciences – about 8 thousand exhibits, numismatic – more than 8 thousand, archaeological - about 9 thousand and ethnographic – about 4 thousand

Here you can see many unique items, such as costumes Evenk and Daur shamans (second half of XIX century), music box (Germany, late XIX century), Ust-Nicinski meteorite (beginning of XX century), as well as bones of fossil animals.
