Snake island is a natural attraction of Bulgaria, located in the resort of Duni. The island is in the sea, 15 km South of Sozopol, North of the mouth of the river Ropotamo. Its area is about 0, 3 acres.

The official name of the island – the island of Saint Thomas. However, the people he was nicknamed Snake due to the fact that these places are habitats of several species of snakes. Also on the island you can see voles Gunther, rodents and other representatives of the animal world.

In 20-ies of the last century came here nerd Bures, who was planning to create your own collection of cacti. Soil Snake island was suitable for this kind of plants. Cacti, brought by botanist from the Botanical garden in Bratislava, successfully engrafted in these places today, they occupy almost half of the island. The most colorful season begins in June, when numerous wild cacti begin to bloom with yellow flowers. Ripe fruit the size of a plum is edible and smells like strawberries. Due to interesting flora in 1962, Snake island was officially given the status of nature reserve.
