The Church of the Holy cross is part of the castle complex Decin. It is located next to the Palace chambers. The path from the castle to the Church passes through the Rose garden, which is located on North terrace. The rosary is perhaps one of the most interesting parts of the castle Decin. Unfortunately, the Rose garden is open in summer only, and the entrance is paid.

The Church of the Holy cross was built in 1691 in the Baroque style. Before its creators had a difficult task to create a temple that would have repeated the Cathedral of St. Peter in Rome. When you consider how big the main temple of Catholics around the world, we can understand the doubt and uncertainty of the architects of the castle Church. However, they partly coped with its task, as can be seen by visiting this chapel in person.

This temple was not damaged during the bombings of world war II, so the interior was not damaged. This is almost the only room of the castle, the inner face of which reached us from the depth of centuries and has not been changed by the efforts of the restorers.

The name of the Church was given for a reason: it is due to one local legend. Tell that in 1530 one of representatives of a sort of Wartenberg with all his family went on a horse ride in the nearby mountains. Horses are afraid and suffered. The whole family would have perished if not for the cross, before which suddenly stopped the sled. Family Wartenberg was saved. In honor of that memorable miraculous event in the chapel bears the name of Holy cross.
