Khrennikov's House Photo: House Khrennikov

One of the historic architectural features of Dnipropetrovsk is the so-called "Khrennikov's House", built in 1913 on the corner of Catherine Avenue (now the Avenue of Karl Marx) and Pervozvanovka street (now St. Korolenko) by engineer Vladimir Khrennikov, who built an apartment house on the site of my own home. Four-storey building has combined the style of Ukrainian Baroque and art Nouveau, shocking his contemporaries novelty of the solution and scale construction.

In house V. Khrennikov was opened theatre hall, which housed the cinema "Palace". In a short time in the apartment house began its work a number of shops: shop wines N. N. Beketov, the gun shop F. P. Dedicou, shop shopping centre Slabakova and Co" and many others. After the revolution in the room were placed Art Museum and Theater of young spectators, and during the war - the officer's club. In 30-ies already in the former "House Khrennikov" was located and the city's "teacher's House".

During the occupation of the city Khrennikov's House was burned by the Nazis, but in the 50 years it was restored. Subsequent renovations have made the appearance of the house a little more modest, disappeared and tiered roof of the house. Also in the building's Foundation was found a silver mortgage Board, this finding was transferred to Dnipropetrovsk historical Museum. In the postwar period in the room placed the restaurant and hotel "Ukraine". But even an accomplished innovation is not crossed out "Khrennikov's House" from the list of major attractions of Dnepropetrovsk, the admiration of artists still painting it and selling pictures on the Boulevard opposite.

In the 90s, with the involvement of Irish companies "I. F. H." "Khrennikov's House" fundamentally restored, and then opened the hotel "Grand hotel Ukraine" and the casino.
