Unusual Museum located in the historic centre of the city Elabuga. Pertamina, or public Laundry, was recreated in an old house of rubble stone. In the former Laundry room well-preserved stone floors and walls, wooden floors and a stove for heating water 1870 edition. In the courtyard of the Museum was reconstituted stone trough used to drain water from portomoynia (Laundry) and symbolic wooden carts with barrels.
In the nineteenth century the building, which houses the Museum, came residents (mostly women) for washing and rinsing the clothes in clean, running water. The Museum has preserved a fragment of a wooden pipe, from which the spring water was supplied to the Laundry. One of the first pipelines in Russia appeared in Elabuga thanks to the father of the famous landscape painter Ivan Shishkin, who was in 1833, a local city Chapter.
Exhibits include inventory portomoynia (Laundry): Laundry baskets, wooden tubs and troughs for water, a washing Board and a variety of devices. A separate place in the Museum is detergents, the exhibition presents various samples of soap and vintage labels manufacturers of detergents. Some exhibits over a hundred years. Also in the Museum you can learn recipes soapmaking at home and by what means was used by laundresses for drying pageant dresses.
Opposite this monument of history and culture is another attraction of the city - wooden house in which lived Marina Tsvetaeva, which according to the recollections of old-timers went to portovino for pure spring water.
