First city exchange was founded by local merchants in 1558. The current building was built in 1879 by the project of the Heinrich Burnitz and Oscar Sommer in neo-Renaissance style. In 1957 the building is fit for purpose and open to visitors.

Hauptwache building was built in 1730 as a guardhouse. Later the building was used as a prison. Since 1904 Hauptwache – chic cafes and a popular meeting place for residents and visitors.
