Turov hillfort is a unique archaeological site, located on the territory of the city of Turov. In 1992-19993, archaeologist Peter F. Lysenko made excavations on site of Castle hill and found a vast ancient settlement and the ruins of the temple destroyed by an earthquake the year 1230.

Even earlier cultural layers showed that under the Church are the remains of a pagan temple. Found a pit filled with coal, give the opportunity to make the assumption that each idol of the pagan God kept the fire unquenchable fires. In the middle of the temple stood a statue of Perun, then hors, dazhdbog, Stribog, Makosh and Simargl, then was assigned to the less important deities.

At the site of the ancient temple were discovered sarcophagi, print, Metropolitan Kirill of Turov stone crosses, which, according to ancient legend, themselves came from Kiev in Rounds against the current of the river. Before the revolution of Turov stone crosses stood in sight and was considered miraculous, but Soviet officials have not come up with anything smarter than flood the legendary floating crosses.
