The Church of St. Michael the Archangel in the town of Smorgon was built in 1606-16012 years. It was built as the Calvinist Church on the site of a wooden Church 1505, the year of construction.

The Calvinist Church was built on the funds of kryštof Zenovich, who bequeathed to bury him after his death in the temple built by him in the tradition of Calvinism – modestly and without fanfare. Father's business was continued by his son Nicholas Bohuslav. However, shortly after his father's death, he switched to Catholicism and died in battle with the Turks of Khotin. The temple, built by the father, gave Catholic in 1621 Anna Sophia is the sister of Nicholas. The Church was consecrated in the name of the Holy Trinity.

During the Russo-Polish war, the temple was destroyed by the troops of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, but it quickly recovered on the donations of the rich Catholic community. In 1858 the Church was restored and richly decorated inside and out. The frescoes on the walls of the Church wrote the famous artist Repovich.

In 1866 the Church was closed by order of the government of tsarist Russia, and then returned to the Orthodox Church. The Orthodox Church was rebuilt in Byzantine style, installing a gilded dome. Magnificent frescoes were Zabelina.

The Church received considerable damage during the First World war. In the years 1921-1926, in the territory of Poland, it was rebuilt as a Catholic Church. In 1947 the Church was closed and gave room for a shop. In the early 1970-ies, the Ministry of Culture of the BSSR, the building was recognized as an architectural monument and restored. It had housed the exhibition hall.

In 1990 the Church was returned to the Catholics. In 1995, the Catholic community Smorgon was also transferred to a former Catholic three-storey building, which under the Soviet regime was used as a House of culture. The building was rebuilt under the direction of architect Basevich. It is the Catholic center named after St. John Bosco.
