The Grodno regional drama theater was founded in 1947 on the basis of the Bobruisk regional drama theatre, which was temporarily housed in Grodno. Theatre, headed by N. Kovalainen, opened its first season with a premiere of the play by Alexander Ostrovsky's "the Truth is good but happiness is better". In 1980 by architect G. Machulskaya was erected a large modern building of brick and reinforced concrete, similar to a crown. The entrance was decorated with a sculptural composition of L. silber. In a new building with two modern comfortable auditorium: large theatre and the balcony seats 700 seats and a small hall of 216 seats on the ground floor.
