Eliza Orzeszko, a prominent Belarusian writer of the nineteenth century, revered as Belarusians, and poles. The current Museum building is a replica of the house built by her second husband, Stanislaw Nagorski in the 1860-70's. This is the last house where Eliza lived. Here she spent 16 years since her marriage in 1894 until his death in 1910.

Eliza Orzeszko was not only a talented writer, whose novel "Over the Neman" entered the literary classics, but also a man with a good heart and active citizenship. She was a wonderful motto, which it has followed all his life: "Have a heart more pure and free as many of the services the land and the people".

Eliza Orzeszko had loved in life and revered after the death of her compatriots. The whole town gathered in 1910, at her funeral, and in 1929 the grateful townspeople opened the monument Park in Grodno.

After the death of the writer in 1911, according to her will, her house was transferred to the Grodno society custody of children.

The house has lived a long and difficult life. In 1920-ies it was opened a commercial school, in 1940 – music school. After the great Patriotic war, when most houses were turned into ruins, surviving in the home of Eliza Orzeszko management is Thus, the blood transfusion station inventory and technical Bureau. In 1948 the building was passed in the House of Pioneers.

In 1958, at the house of Eliza gathered almost all of Grodno. Case was special – in the house opened a library and Museum of Eliza Orzeszko. Later, in the 1960-ies, it was a branch of the Writers Union of Grodno region. The Cabinet Eliza Orzeszko, a library and a branch of the Union of Writers left in this house now.

In 1976 the decision was made to home remodeling. Unfortunately, the building is so dilapidated that it was decided to completely dismantle and build an exact copy of it a little further from the roadway.

Another reconstruction of the house-Museum was held in 2009. The library has installed modern air-conditioning system to maintain the desired conditions of storage of books in the library. Installed new modern equipment in the library, including equipment for people with disabilities.
