Art Museum of Imatra was opened in 1951. and is one of the first of its kind: the Museum is located in a rural location and within the building of the Cultural centre.
The Museum contains more than 1,400 works, some of which are owned by the city, and the second part - Art society of Imatra. The main place in the collection devoted to the works of Finnish artists of the XX century. In addition, it includes works from international artists of XIX century., as well as prints by Japanese masters of the XVII century. Absolutely all exhibits have great cultural value.
Every year the Museum arranges a variety of temporary exhibitions, which attracts many tourists from all corners of the earth.
In the summer the Museum is open to the public Monday through Friday, and in the fall, winter and spring Monday through Saturday. Admission is free.
