Originally Izborsk was located in the ancient town that existed before the fortress on Euravia mountain. In these places, the city occupied an area in a triangular Cape, situated on a high plateau. This area was not so great, although the place was wonderful. The settlement was located on top of a hill, the base of which goes straight to the bottom of the valley. From the heights above the valley you can see unprecedented scope, from which the valley takes in the Northern part; in the distance is seen a Bit of the lake. On the North and West sides of Truvor mound was well protected by deep ravines with steep enough slopes, while the Eastern part was occupied Gorodishchensky lake. At the very top of the earthworks passed the wooden fence of closely exposed and pointed top oak logs. We can say that the village Krivichi soon became the site of a fortified settlement.

The Truvor mound was not a fortress in our modern sense of the notion. In the inner part of the settlement settled residents, houses as houses, reaching a length of 4-4. 5 meters. Log cabins were built of logs, the floors were lined with the help of planed boards. The heating of dwellings was made in clay ovens. In the Central part of the city was built a small platform about 20 meters in diameter. The site was located on a natural limestone ledge, which is slightly dominated all the surrounding surfaces. Most likely, in this place was held frequent meetings of the local residents, as well as celebrations were held in honor of pagan deities.

Particularly important evidence of former life and ancient times of Trufanova settlement became preserved until our times tombstones and made of stone crosses in the historic part of the cemetery near the Fort. Ancient burial site, located at the edge of the settlement, to the present time have no names, but still rumours of century in century tells a legend that in ancient graves on massive stone slabs buried soldiers of the famous Varangian Truvor, in Izborsk the earth, led by their leader. There is a tomb, above which stands a huge cross, a little tilted by reason of antiquity. In this grave and buried the Prince Truvor, who ruled in Izborsk according to the "Tale of bygone years".

This tradition is now forever linked with the name of Izborsk. Catherine II, who believed in Izborsk the legend of the Grand Duke, ordered to the medal engraved, in consequence of having an inscription stating that in 864 died great ruler Truvor. This great cross over the grave and is called "Truvorov cross," and an ancient burial – place of burial). Tall stone cross reaches more than 2 meters, and the scattering of horizontally spaced ends -1, 5 meters. Obverse side of the cross is barely visible trail carved from the Slavic writing; thanks to the efforts of its scientists managed to read it as "Glorious King Jesus Christ. Nico". Nico, in this context, translates as "victory".

In all scientific work Truvorov the cross is the 14-15 century, although careful studies of the tomb of Prince Truvor no one did. Understudied stone slabs that are located on other ancient graves and no one deciphered. Still, many researchers argue about the values of the geometric shapes depicted on the gravestones.

The mysterious history of Towarowa settlement still holds many mysteries. According to local residents, the settlement is guarded by snakes who guard not only the settlement itself, but also numerous graves from the hunters of archaeological relics. In addition, Truvorov the cross is venerated even as a "power pole", which is the strongest source of energy of the earth.

On the Truvor mound is also the Church of St. Nicholas, Dating back to the 16-17 centuries. This monument harmoniously into the surrounding nature, making necessary balance all seen.
