Nikolaev Hoods monastery Photo: Nicholas Hoods monastery

Near the confluence of Kalinki and Wonji that in the North-Eastern side from the city of Kashin, Hoods is a public monastery. According to ancient legend, the Novgorod Archbishop John drove by these places in Jerusalem, while on his way from the head dropped the hood, which after a time was found – it was on this very spot and there was a monastery.

To date, the exact date of Foundation of the monastery is unknown, although it has been proved that in the early 14th century it already had a place to be. In the mid-1420-year in Kłobukowska the monastery came a Matthew Kozhin, who in the future became known as St. Macarius, the founder of the Kalyazin monastery. Matthew decided to renounce the world and has found his monastic vows. On-site Kłobukowska the monastery he lived a couple of years later, this time, left it. In the first years of its existence, the monastery grew rapidly and prospered, but after the implementation of the reforms of Catherine the situation was quite different – the monastery "poor" over the congregation, although his superiors wore a dignity of Archimandrite.

When Kłobukowska of the monastery were three churches: the Church of the Holy Trinity, built in 1664 and is equipped with a side chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas, the Church of the Intercession, built in 1400 and updated in 1821, and the Church in honor of St. Alexius – Moscow Metropolitan – 1851 built with two chapels (Saints Peter and Paul, and of the Tikhvin icon of the mother of God). In addition, the location of the monastery gate was tall bell tower.

It should be noted that among the important relics and treasures of the monastery can be called a cell belonging to the monk Makarii – it was here that he made the so-called monastic deeds. The cell was built in 1425, which is why today she is in a dilapidated condition and completely uninhabitable. The room was quite small in magnitude; it preserves an ancient cross, candlestick and lectern monk. In the sacristy for quite a long time, were deposited by the ancient banners, vessels, schema, the ark, made of iron chains, the cross with the relics of many saints and some other valuable things. In the monastery's library was a few valuable old manuscripts.

When Kłobukowska the monastery there are shrines that are of particular importance for the monastery and its parishioners. For example, the image of the Theodore icon of the blessed virgin was donated to the monastery by Prince Yaroslav Vsevolodovich. In 2004, the year the icon was transferred to Kashin through the procession. Among the monastery's relics is the altar of an Orthodox Church, Dating from the long Christian times. In the old altar were kept the relics of the Holy martyrs – it is this tradition still alive in all Orthodox churches.

During the reign of Soviet power in the building of the monastery opened a meat-packing plant and in the cell of Saint Makarii - slaughter workshop. It is important to note that, despite working as global production, temple is practically not affected.

In 1994 the monastery was begun repair work. In the past, the monastery was exclusively male, but now the monastery is a female. For a long time when Kłobukowska the monastery is not adequate living accommodations, so the first time was very difficult, and the services were held only on holidays and Sundays. Today, the monastery continues to recover, albeit at a slow pace.
