The Kekin house was built by architect Henry Rosem by order of the merchant of Leontiy V. Kekin in 1903-1905. The construction work of the four buildings were available. For the first time at night work at the site was used by electric lighting.
Expressive originality of this building has made it one of the landmarks of the city of Kazan. Here is designed by the art Nouveau style with elements of Gothic and Moorish architecture.
Until 1917 Kekin House was a lodging house. On the upper floors were apartments for rent. Below at various times housed a private school VI Raginei, gymnasium Pedagogical society, preparatory school N. And. Benevskaya, the Kazan district Board of communications, library S. Y. Palchinski, bookstore P. V. Shatalov, needles and haberdashery shop M. R. Tukhvatullin, wine-grocery services V. A. Afanasyev, typography L. F. gross.
After the revolution of 1917 Kekin House was nationalized. In different years was located here: Kazan military Commissariat, Regional management of water transport, the Association of civil facilities of the Gorky railway and dining room 1.
In 2002-2004 Kekin House was reconstructed, restoring the original facades color: light grey walls, red-brown roof and white décor. In the reconstruction process have strengthened the Foundation and replaced the old floors in-situ concrete. Today the building houses office space and brewery "Tinkoff".
