State nature complex reserve "Clean moss" was formed in 1976. The reserve carries regional importance. Nature reserve is located in the Kirishi district of Leningrad region, and to be precise, four kilometers Southeast of the city of Kirishi. Access to Clean moss" from the city of St. Petersburg, reaching Kirishi, and then by bus to the village Budogoshch – this place is the border of a natural reserve.

The aim of creating a natural reserve complex was the preservation of valuable territories attributable to raised bogs, which are typical for the North-Western part of the Russian Federation. This area is a unique place for scientific observations to be carried out over a long period of time. All research were carried out marsh station at the State hydrological Institute.

State control over natural reserve is carried out on behalf of the Government of the Leningrad region, and more precisely of the Committee for environmental protection and natural resources of the Leningrad region, which is documented by a certified resolution of the Government of the Leningrad oblast No. 494 dated December 26, 1996. The total area of the state nature reserve "Clean moss" is 6434 hectares.

Located in the territory of the bog is composed of six arrays, as well as extensive running Topi. On the South side of the swamp, an area of 3,500 hectares, held Novgorod region – here are some of the area is part of another natural reserve "Bor". Closer to the North marsh system continues hummock-hollow swamp called Shira moss, extending just beyond the railway line. High slopes of the river valley Dobni and marsh Islands densely planted Osinniki, alternating with forest herbs, such as Lily of the valley, lungwort, amazing violet, perlovich and cap. The river valley is rich in oaks, and on the Islands can often be seen growing Linden. Not only in the meadows, but in the forest area grows large number of species of orchids. With regard to rare for this area, in fact it is worth noting Siberian lettuce, Northern fighter, and in the immediate area of wetland systems is especially common to see the sphagnum Lindberg – very rare and few common species of moss. Nature reserve is particularly rich in berries and mushrooms.

The fauna of the reserve "Clean moss", mostly represented wetland and forest bird species, including the most common: woodcock, snipe-green Sandpiper, snipe, and birds of prey, for example, the Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Goshawk, marsh Harrier, honey Buzzard and hobby. Equally important are regular meetings in the White river Golden eagles. Although close to the nature reserve is the town Ptchevja. and the town of Kirishi, on-site Parking can often see grouse, capercaillie, ptarmigan and grouse. Mammals class is to provide a beaver that is found not only in the swamp, but the forest area, as well as wolf, bear, Fox, wild boar, moose and marten. In addition, it is home to many rodents and insectivorous animals.

By carefully protected objects of the nature reserve include: located on the Islands of Linden wood, the territory of swamps, rare species of animals and plants, for example, Northern fighter, Siberian lettuce, sphagnum Lindberg, ptarmigan and all kinds of birds of prey.

The reserve "Clean moss" is strictly prohibited any reclamation work, tapping trees, activities, resulting in the disturbance of the hydrological regime of the mire system, the use of pesticides and chemicals, the discharge of waste water, extraction of minerals, including peat, as well as various geological surveys.
