Among the many beaches of the Greek island of KOs separate attention deserves the beach of Therma. It is located on the Southeast coast of the island, about 10-12 km from KOs town and attracts huge number of tourists from all over the world.
Therma – great beach with black sand and pebbles, surrounded by steep picturesque rocks. The popularity of this beach received its healing thermal springs, which in 1934 was discovered by the Italian archaeologist, Laurenti. Actually in Greek "Therme" meaning "hot spring", so the name of the beach does not get accidentally.
Right near the shore you will see a relatively small pool separated from the sea only by boulders. This font has been artificially created directly in the place where hot springs, the temperature of which is approximately 40-50 degrees, into the sea. The water here has a very interesting and rich composition and is rich in elements such as potassium, calcium, sulfur, magnesium, sodium, etc. and undoubtedly has a therapeutic effect. Bathing in this "natural bath" is especially useful for people suffering from arthritis, rheumatism, and also in problems with the respiratory and gynecological diseases. Water is also extremely beneficial to the skin and very relaxing. But do not forget that staying in the pool for more than 20-30 minutes is not recommended.
Since the Therma beach is very popular, in the daytime it is usually very crowded. And if you prefer to avoid excessive congestion, it is worth visiting the beach of Therma in the evening.
