Sochi national Park is one of the first parks that have been established throughout the country. The Park is located in the Northwest of the greater Caucasus. It was created in 1983 with the purpose of restoration and preservation of natural complexes and objects that have high scientific, recreational and ecological value. The total area of the Park is about 194 thousand ha.

Only on the territory of Sochi national Park occur 40 streams and rivers, the longest of them – Psou, the Shah, Mzymta. On the streams and rivers there are many waterfalls and canyons. Also in the Park are interesting karst formations - famous Akhun Vorontsovskaya cave.

The national Park is widely distributed forests with a predominance of beech, silver-gray trunks which reach a height of 50 m. About a quarter of the forested area is occupied by oak trees, they are mostly on the warm and dry southern slopes of the mountains. Only in the Caucasus under natural conditions grows Castanea sativa (European) which is a relict species. A very picturesque look of boxwood plantings. Moss gives the forest a remarkably fantastic view of the green Kingdom.

The fauna of the Sochi national Park has more than 70 species of animals, including brown bear, lynx, deer, ROE deer European and Caucasian, otter, marten, and many others. Valuable and rare species of plants and animals listed in the International Red book.

In the Park there are a large number of tourist routes, some of them have a long and interesting history. They include visits to Orikhiv and Agur waterfalls, the Vorontsov caves, Akhun mountain, Khosta and Akhshtyr canyons and many others.
