Krasnoyarsk state Opera and ballet theatre is the only musical theatre, which was opened in the Urals over the past three decades. It is located at Theater square.

The theatre building was erected in 1966-1978, the Author of this project was the winner of the State prize of the USSR architect I. Mikhalev. The theatre was officially opened in August 1978, which was dedicated to the 350th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk. Especially for the builders of that was the Opera "Prince Igor" by Borodin. The beginning of the first creative of the season for the public was held in December 1978

In the Krasnoyarsk theater of Opera and ballet premieres of the operas were: "Woe from wit" (1985), "hamlet" (1993); ballets: "the Odyssey" (1983), "White deer" (1987); musical: "Under the first star" (2000). On the stage the audience was presented to the rock ballet "Jesus Christ superstar" E. Webber (1989), the Opera don Procopio" Bizet (1983). Krasnoyarsk theatre has made over 80 amazing Opera and ballet performances.

In 1986 the theatre was to carry out the international festival of Opera art the name of P. Slovtsov, and a vocal competition called "Young voices". In addition, the theatre was one of the founders of the International mostactively countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

The repertoire consists of almost all Opera and ballet classics. The main pride, in addition to performances, the time-tested, are performances in recent years, among them the Opera "Eugene Onegin", "Madame butterfly", "the Queen of spades", the ballets "the Infanta and the Clown", "Spartacus", the new version of the ballet "vain precaution", "the Nutcracker" and "Annie".

Krasnoyarsk theatre of Opera and ballet is considered one of the most favorite places of cultural activities not only local residents but also visitors alike. It is also the center for creative meetings known artists of different Russian cities and foreign countries.

Today in the repertoire there are more than 50 theatrical productions.
