City Museum of Kroměříž is located in a historic building in 1609 on the area of Velke. Once this structure belonged to cardinal Francis Ditrichstein, who received it in the merger of two buildings: the Seminary of the Jesuits and the house Manager of the farm from the local Bishop. Then the future city Museum, and at the time, just roomy, spacious building, which also was well located, became the property of Bishop Carl Liechtenstein-Casteldarne. The new owner, it was repaired after the destruction left by the Swedes. Now we see the result of his labors.
The building is reminiscent of Renaissance arcades located next to the Governor's House. Future city Museum was loved by the locals, who always considered this building is one of the most beautiful in the city.
City Museum consists of several sections. In the basement of an exhibition devoted to the history of the city. With the help of touch screens, which shows educational films and original objects found during archaeological expeditions, here you can find out what was on the site of the city of Kromeriz in prehistoric times, as a small village grew into a town, as developed craft, what treasures are hidden under a bridge.
On the ground floor there is an exhibition of paintings dedicated to the city of Kromeriz, Czech Republic as a whole.
Also in the Museum you can find the exhibition "Nature and man". This several dioramas depicting the diversity of flora and fauna in the zlín region.
