Gostiny Dvor in Kronstadt is a monument of architecture and history of the XIX century. Made by architect V. I. Maslov. Is the object of cultural heritage of the Russian Federation and is under state protection.

Gostiny Dvor is located in the city center, occupies the block between Lenin's Avenue, street Civil, Karl Marx street and Sovetskaya street. Once in front of him was another courtyard Seating. These were the so-called Tatar ranks, but after the great Patriotic war in this place there were residential buildings.

On the street side of the Soviet front in 2004 opened the so-called "musical" fountain, and near it is a memorial sign in honor of the 300th anniversary of Kronstadt. On the corner of Sovetskaya and Karl Marx streets is the Central city library and across the street – Catherine Park (bypass canal) and the St. Andrew square, in which at the time was erected a Church in honour of St. Andrew, now demolished. Restored only the chapel. Via Lenin Avenue you can get into home life, and in the distance you can see St. Vladimir Cathedral.

Gostiny Dvor is the only place in Kronstadt, through which pass all the buses, the Terminus for commuter buses.

In the first half of the XIX century on the place of Gostiny Dvor were established trade lines until that time, until in 1827 Kronstadt was visited by Emperor Nicholas I, which celebrated the improper condition of the place and ordered to build a building that would meet its purpose. The project assumed that this building was supposed to be a miniature copy of Gostiny Dvor in St. Petersburg.

Gostiny Dvor was built on March 26, 1832. It was the largest shopping centre in the city. It housed about 50 different stalls and shops where you could buy foreign products, there was a product for every taste. Trading in Gostiny Dvor flourished. But in 1874 in Kronstadt there was a fire and the building was destroyed. During restoration, the project was in some way modified (for example, the corners were rounded), but in the shape of the structure can still be considered an earlier ancestor from St. Petersburg.

It is noteworthy that during the recovery between merchants dispute broke out, what color should be painted the building: in yellow or grey. To a common point of view did not come. As a result, half of the house was yellow and the other gray. Only in 1890-ies uniformity was achieved – the building was brought into compliance with the original design (facade became yellow).

In the middle of the buildings on both sides made gate, resulting in like 2 different buildings were under one roof – to pass from one part to another, not getting on the street, it was impossible. In today's days to trade on the second floor opened to a narrow pavilions, and thus, through passage appeared.

In the early 90-ies of XX century Gostiny Dvor was restored, the work was only completed in 2007. Local residents had renovated the building, which, like many years ago, has regained its status as the largest shopping centre of the city of Kronstadt.
