Old sącz is a town in lesser Poland Voivodeship, located between two rivers Dunajec and Poprad at an altitude of 320 meters above sea level. This is one of the oldest cities in Poland, founded in the 13th century.

The first mention of Old sącz dates back to 1257, when the Duchess king - daughter of king Bela IV of Hungary and wife of king Boleslaw V the Chaste, received land sącz together with the surrounding villages. The Duchess – the passionate lover of mountains, founded there a monastery of poor Clares in 1280. Almost at the same time, on the opposite slope of the hill sącz it also established the Franciscan monastery.

In 1358 the town received the privilege of Magdeburg law, confirmed by the king Casimir the Great. Extremely favorable location on a busy trade route to Hungary contributed to the rapid development of the city. However, the city often suffered from natural disasters, the most devastating of which were fires. The city has not managed to avoid the floods, epidemics and war. During the most severe fire in 1795, almost the entire Old Sacz burned.

Visitors can admire the unique medieval architecture. The market building is a Prime example of such architecture. Monastery of poor Clares, with its unique library, which holds valuable manuscripts, is also extremely interesting object. The monastery is open Gothic Church of the Holy Trinity, the interior of which is decorated with Baroque paintings.

Active guests can enjoy the local lakes, fishing. In addition, it is near the tourist route through the landscape Park Poprad.
