According to some reports, the construction of the chapel was entrusted to the architect's team of Andrew Bomer that around the same time was engaged in construction of several other buildings in Lviv. Also, experts note that the Boim chapel built by analogy with other ancient tomb – Zygmuntowski that is located in the Wawel castle in Krakow.
Boim chapel was built in the late Renaissance style with a touch of Baroque. But most visitors are affected by the rich decoration of the Western façade. Fancy flowery patterns interwoven with figures of saints and images of biblical scenes. Very original and unusual looks, the figure of a seated Christ, which is crowned by the dome. No less impressive is the interior of the chapel - here you can see sculptures made acknowledged master – I. Pfister.
Interestingly, the walls of the chapel is oriented to the cardinal, and it looks like a classic Carpathian Church.
Boim chapel was built on the site of the then-current cemetery, which was next to the Catholic Cathedral. Later, namely in the eighteenth century, the burials were moved from the chapel in another place, and the keys handed over to the Cathedral. With the advent of Soviet power, the chapel was closed to the public. And only since 1969 chapel doors opened again for visitors.
