One of the best and most famous religious buildings of the city of Madurai, which is located in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is considered a Hindu temple Koodal Azhagar. Koodal Azhagar is located right in the city centre and is one of the oldest shrines. In addition, this temple is considered one of the oldest in the whole of southern India. Like many churches of the time, it is built in Dravidian style. Its beautiful tower, which is also called "gopuram", decorated with a huge number of figures of different sizes, among which we can find both people and animals, and mythical characters, and deities. They are all very detailed and painted in bright colors, which are dominated by blue, green and red. Also on the front of the building carved sculpture of the deity in whose honor and was established this temple is Vishnu. Him in the temple can be seen in three different positions – sitting, standing and reclining.
