Ruins of the ancient Calix is one of the main historical attractions of Morocco, located North of the seaport of Larache on the Bank of the river Wadi Lucky.

Ancient structures that have been found in this country, are the ruins of the Phoenician colonies. The oldest of them is Lix, founded in 1146 BC around that time were built by the Phoenicians and other trading cities on the African coast of the Mediterranean sea, which became important ports. The city of Licks needed to the Phoenicians as a base on the outskirts of the silver mines of Spain, and also for sailing to the island of Madeira and the Canary Islands, where they took dyes for their world famous purple fabrics.

After, the Phoenician colony became part of Carthage. After a while Carthage was in decline, then Licks became part of the Roman Empire and Outpost of the Roman province. Today, the Licks are the ruins of ancient buildings and beautiful nature. There were virtually no research and excavations.

In Licks you can see the preserved ruins of the amphitheatre (I century, which could accommodate more than one hundred people. Behind the theatre is the well-preserved baths with amazing mosaics. In the heart of one of the largest and beautiful mosaic inserts is the God Neptune, the image of which, unfortunately, became the victim of vandals. In the Central part of the city is very ancient Christian Basilica.

From the ocean you can see the large stone blocks that have a mysterious and enigmatic view is a monstrously huge monoliths at the base of the ocean Mall. A little further is hanging on steeper indoor dolmen. During low tide on a shallow bottom of the ocean you can see the individual rectangular stone blocks of the walls of the ancient port.

If you feel the Licks of 2000 years ago, we can without doubt say that it was one of the most beautiful and powerful cities of antiquity.
