In Uglich, on Spasskaya street, 33 is the Central Museum of the history of hydropower of Russia. The Museum was opened on December 22, 2006 at the administration building in Uglich hydroelectric power station.

The Museum building is a two-story building, built at the turn of the 30-40-ies of XX century, which in the past was the city Department of Volgolga. Necessary the project was developed according to both Russian and foreign experience in the field of corporate and industry Museum exhibitions, considering the newest trends in the issue of Museum display. In the process of equipping the Museum of the necessary technology – audio exhibits were applied special layouts and managed the program.

The Museum has eleven rooms in which the exhibition, telling about the historical development of the hydropower sector of the USSR and the Russian Federation, the development and subsequent transmission of electricity, outstanding people who have reached unprecedented heights in the development of this field, the principles of arrangement and construction of power plants, hydrological resources of our planet. No country in the world can "boast" such a Museum, although its uniqueness was recognized worldwide leading experts in the field of hydropower, as well as honorary members of the international Commission on the issue of large dams.

The first hall of the Museum – a trial. He tells about the history of development, prospects and the state energy and hydropower of Russia. Here enveloped impressive informative part, and summarizes all the information available in the Museum. There is a Hall of memory, telling forces due to what happened the creation of Rybinsk and Uglich hydroelectric power station.
