Wat Chong Kham Photo: Wat Chong Kham

Wat Chong Kham is located in the heart of the town opposite Mae Hong son lake and Park. In one area the temple is Wat Chong Klang, they are so close that it is difficult to see the boundary between them.

The temple Chong Kham was built in 1827 during the reign of the Seasons of Siganature of the people of neighbouring Shan of Myanmar (Burma). However, it was badly damaged by fire, and at the moment you can see a reconstruction of 1970.

Wat Chong Kham is fully established in the Burmese style, the main building material is wood. Artful wood carving and decoration of metal plates, low ceilings - that's its distinctive features.

On the temple grounds is the Central building (viharn), it houses a collection of antique carved dolls from Myanmar (Burma) called “tocata” and Buddha statues. Near viharam later came the modern building, which is revered by all Buddhists Buddha statue Luang. White Chedi, covered with gold-painted, the invariable attribute of any Buddhist ceremony in the temple.

The local monks are proud of and the largest straw Buddha statue, created here not so long ago. Despite her obviously short-lived design, it is impressive subtlety of the wizard.
