Photo: the Palace of the master Vilhena in Mdina
Not far from the Main gate is the Palace master Vilhena. The building was built in the XVIII century. Subsequently the building was used as a hospital. Now it houses the Museum of history and local lore, the exhibition which presents archaeological finds, artefacts and medieval antiquities.
Next is the descent into the underground tunnels and the prison chambers under the Palace. Wax figures representing the inhabitants and "interior" prison of the middle ages: bloody torture, severed heads, punishment of prisoners, etc.
