Museum-panorama "Borodino battle" includes three exposures. The main building of the current Museum is located on Kutuzov Avenue (at the former site of the village of Fili).

The basis of the Museum is the house of the Council at Fili. After the fire of 1868, it was rebuilt according to the description made before the fire. The only reliable picture of the hut is the sketch made by the artist Aleksei Kondrat Savrasov. In "Kutuzovskaya izba" is the exposition telling about the Council of war Russian generals, which took place at Fili 13 September 1812 and Svetleyshim Prince M. I. Kutuzov.

Panorama the battle of Borodino fulfilled F. A. Roubaud and completed in 1912, the 100th anniversary of the battle of Borodino and the war of 1812. The customer grandiose paintings was the Emperor Nicholas II.As consultants in the creation of the work were meat eaters and Calabacin. The panorama was opened in the pavilion, built for her on Clean Ponds, in 1912.

In 1918 Borodino panorama was closed and dismantled.Again it was opened in 1962, to mark the 150th anniversary of the battle, in a special building on Kutuzovsky Prospekt. For a long period of restoration work was performed by a group of artists Central scientific restoration workshop. Supervised a team of artists, M. F. Ivanov-Churanov. The building to house the Borodino panorama was designed by architects Kuchanov, Korabelnikov, Kuzmin engineer and Avrutin.

Borodino panorama and "Kutuzovskaya izba" was a single memorial that is associated with the events of the Patriotic war of 1812, the former Poklonnaya mountain.

In December 2007, the Museum opened a Department of the Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia". In 2006, the mayor's office issued a decision on the construction of a building for the exhibition of materials collected by the Foundation for the support of the Heroes and the Heroes Museum" in the Museum-panorama "Borodino battle".
