Tower of the Palace of the Kremlin was built during the reign of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich in 1635 – 1637, the Palace was Built the stone master Bazhen Ogurtsov, Antip Konstantinov, Trefil the Sharutin and Larion Ushakov.
The Palace is the first stone building in Russia, intended for everyday life. Prior to that, stone chambers were built for ceremonial receptions, and residential buildings were made of wood. The lower basement floor of the Palace became of Commerce of the Grand-Ducal Palace, built during the 15th and 16th centuries for Ivan III. The architect of the chambers was Aleviz Fryazin. The chamber served as the basis for the construction of the second floor, which posted artisans chamber. They sewed clothes and linens to the Royal court.
In the Terem Palace there were the chambers of the Queen and the Royal children, and above them – chambers of the king. In the superstructure – Michael's Attics, were held meetings of the Boyar Duma. In the third and fifth floors of the Terem Palace is a gallery – ambulatories. From the East, on the second floor of the Palace you can climb on Top the Golden porch. It served as the main entrance into the apartments of the king.
Outside the Palace is richly decorated with decorative white stone carved architraves, hanging weights with a vegetative ornament. The ornament includes a heraldic image of birds and animals.
The ensemble Terem Palace is also Kutafya tower of the 16th century and house churches. In 1682, the Church of the Resurrection, of our Saviour and the chapel of the Crucifixion joined one roof. On the roof mounted 11 tiled cupolas on their necks. Supervised the construction work, the architect Osip Startsev. Painted crosses and tiles complied with the elder Hippolyte.
The original interiors of the Palace were lost. In the thirties of the 19th century the walls of the rooms of the Palace are painted in "old style".
