The memorial complex "the mound of Glory" was built in Mozyr in 1967. The memorial was dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of the liberation of the town from Nazi invaders.
Heavy fate befell the Belarusian town of Mozyr 875 days continued occupation of the city by enemy troops. All this time the heroic Belarusian people continued to fight against the fascists. The city was occupied on 22 August 1941 and released only on January 14, 1944.
The monument is a 45-meter-high stele, multi-meter cube with the inscription: "Abarham Razmi hell mazeran" on which is mounted a howitzer of world war II, the eternal flame, a mass grave Mozyr soldiers and partisans.
Mass grave of the liberators of the town appeared on the mount of Glory on the eve of celebration of the 60th anniversary of the October revolution. In 2012, on the mound of glory was a memorial to the soldiers-internationalists who fought in Afghanistan. At the memorial stone was buried the capsule with the Afghan land sprinkled with the blood of Soviet soldiers.
Glory on the Mound are held rallies and parades, meetings with War veterans and soldiers-internationalists.
