Filoti is a charming mountain village in the Central part of the Greek island of Naxos. The settlement is located at the foot of mount Zas (the highest peak of the island), at an altitude of 400 m above sea level, about 19 km from the administrative center of the island of Naxos town (Chora). This is one of the largest and most beautiful settlements on the island with a population of about 1800 people. The locals are mainly engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Descending the slopes of the beautiful hills in the form of an amphitheatre picturesque village Filoti is a traditional Greek village with typical for the region architecture, a maze of narrow cobbled streets, ancient churches and a captivating atmosphere of cordiality and hospitality of the locals. The favorite place for residents of Filoti and his guests - the main square with lots of cosy taverns and cafes. Here in the shade of a sprawling century-old plane tree you can relax after a walk and enjoy the delicious local cuisine.

Among the attractions Filoti is worth noting the Church of the virgin Filiotis (1718) with an impressive bell tower, marble iconostasis and unique icons, Holy Trinity Church and the tower of Barotsi (1650). Scenic same neighborhood Filoti as if created for the lovers of long walks.

Near Filoti is one of the main attractions of the island of Naxos – the tower of Pyrgos Himuro. Grandiose fortification was built in the Hellenistic era, and sufficiently well preserved to our days.

You should definitely visit the cave with beautiful stalagmites and the oldest monastery of the island – Photodoto near the village of Danakos.
