The female monastery of Saint Panteleimon, which is located just a kilometer from the village of Agrokipia in the district of Nicosia in its present form was created in the XVIII century.
According to historical records, originally a monastery complex was built in the fifteenth century and then it was for men. As the inscription on the Western entrance to the Church, the complex was reconstructed in 1770, as the old buildings were so dilapidated that could collapse at any moment. Sorry, no documents that could give an idea of how it looked the monastery and the Church originally. Created in the XVIII century, the complex consisted of a Church and two buildings located on the North and East sides of the temple. Then, during the restructuring, namely in 1774, the iconostasis and all the most valuable icons, including icons of Jesus Christ, the virgin Mary and Saint Panteleimon, were covered with gold leaf. In addition, the Church was preserved several ancient icons, the extant that were written in the XVII century – the oldest among them is the icon of St. George, Dating from the year 1684.
Later, in the 1970-ies, this monastery became female. And during another restructuring in the 1980-ies, were added additional rooms: on the South side there was one wing and added a mezzanine level. In addition, the Northern part of the monastery was turned into a warehouse and production hall for the manufacture of sweets. Also once there was space for the production of olive oil, but it too was converted into warehouses.
At this point in the convent. Panteleimon there are only a few nuns.
