The Sun Museum in Novosibirsk is one of the most unusual museums in Russia and the only one in the world. It is located in Akademgorodok, and takes only two rooms.
The idea of founding the Museum, the Sun arose in 1986 solo exhibition, which was held in the house of culture "Builder" under the slogan "let us Create the Museum of the Sun." The initiator of creation of the Museum was Lipence Valery, who is currently its Director. In Novosibirsk the Sun Museum presents more than 2 thousand units dedicated to the Sun. About 500 exhibits are original works of V. Lipenkov.
On the walls of the Museum you can see all sorts of images of ancient solar symbols that were copied from original archaeological finds, traditional folk image of the Sun, solar talismans, amulets of various countries and peoples. In addition, the Museum presents a vast collection of Indian and Nepalese solar traditions as well as native American and ancient. All "gods" were carved on a tree the founding father of this unique Museum by the artist on wood V. Lipenkov. For a more detailed study of how it portrayed the Sun, the different peoples of the world, he made several research trips, which enriched the collection with exhibits from India, Nepal, Indonesia and Australia.
The oldest Museum exhibit - the fossil shell of a mollusk is already about 300 million years. Shell was found on the coast of the Arctic ocean as a Director of the West Siberian film Studio Valery Novikov.
In the days of solstice and equinox in the Museum organizes festivals of the Sun. Each year the number of visitors to the Museum grows. On average, over the year it is visited by more than six thousand people.
Since 1999 the Museum of the Sun together with the municipal teenage club "sun" holds a children's contest "Children draw the Sun". The best works were exhibited not only in Novosibirsk, but also Moscow, Voronezh, St. Petersburg, Kirov, Kemerovo, Tomsk, Novokuznetsk, Gorno-Altaisk and Berdsk.
