The heart of the city javorník is an ancient castle, which is also called'slavonic Vrhom, which translated from Czech means "John Hill". The castle, indeed, located on a hill, with its walls a magnificent view of the surroundings. Once a castle was owned by the fathers of the Church residing in the Polish Wroclaw. They came here only in the summer, but this does not meant that they did not appreciate comfort and coziness. That is why the condition of the fortress and watched constantly repaired, avoiding destruction.

The name of the castle - Javornik - bishops not very happy, so they renamed it in honour of the most revered Saint John the Baptist. This happened in the early sixteenth century. The name stuck, and now it is underneath this castle is mentioned in all the guidebooks.

Interestingly, the Wroclaw bishops owned the castle until 1945. It repeatedly gave bail, but always redeemed.

Castle'slavonic Vrch was always open to educated and creative people: composers, artists, scientists. Many of them came here with visits and performed here for a while. Historians believe that Copernicus was visiting Bishop John V.
